Can you believe the year is nearly over? Only a few weeks left—and the holidays are here, so those few weeks will definitely fly by. This past year has been a wonderful one for me, and I’m looking forward to even better things in 2016!
The new year will also bring us a new theme for primary: “I Know the Scriptures Are True.” Kimiko and I are really looking forward to focusing on the scriptures in this coming year and learning how they can bless our lives and help us know what Heavenly Father wants us to do.
To go along with the 2016 theme, we have each written new books that will help you and your children learn all year long!
Kimiko’s book is titled I Know the Scriptures Are True: A Year of Prepared Family Night Lessons and Activities to Strengthen Your Home. As you can tell from the title, it’s intended specifically for family home evening. And it’s full of activities, lessons, scriptures, and challenges that will encourage your whole family to enjoy learning gospel truths together. Since the weekly themes go right along with what your children learned about in Primary the previous Sunday, this book is a perfect way to reinforce those same concepts in your own home.
One thing I especially love about Kimiko’s book is that she always provides lessons and games that work for both older and younger children. She also includes fun word puzzles and activities that would be perfect for any day of the week, not just on Monday nights.
My new book, Time to Share: 52 Weeks of Primary, is meant especially for Primary leaders and teachers. My previous books in the Tiny Talks series had stories and scriptures for each week, but now in Time to Share you’ll also find full lessons for sharing time and activities that go hand in hand with them, as well as songs and ideas to help you practice for the annual program and multimedia resources you can access online. Of course, it still includes talks for children to give each week, plus scriptures and attention activities.
While it’s written mostly for Primary leaders, Time to Share could also be used in your home with a little adaptation. Just as Kimiko’s book could be adapted for use in primary.
If you’re interested in purchasing your own copy of either of these books, please click on the links below or look for them at your favorite LDS bookstore.
And speaking of bookstores, for those who live in Utah County, I will be signing books at the Orem Parkway Deseret Book this coming Saturday (12/12) from noon to 1:30 pm. I would love to see you there!
Kimiko and I are so grateful for your continued support and we want to wish you and all the children you love a very merry Christmas season and a happy new year! We’ll see you in 2016!
